Food Services

CIH Academy features a new, fully-equipped dining area in the Commons where tasty and nutritious meals are served three times a day. Nutrition is an important part of the hockey training program - to perform at an elite level, the human body needs the right kind of fuel. Our food services staff offers a variety of healthy, balanced meals using Hockey Canada's recommended menu to meet the needs of our athletes.  Each residence is also equipped with a mini kitchenette to allow for the preparation of snacks for themselves during non-mealtime hours.

Throughout the year our food services staff ensure that our athletes get a variety of quality meals. On occasion there will be thematic menus depending on the time of year such as Halloween, Christmas, St-Patricks, Easter, Hockey Playoffs, etc. Furthermore, athletes are invited to share and prepare recipes from home with our staff.  This will be fun for all and a great learning experience. Below is a typical weekly menu of what is offered at CIH Academy:

Hockey Canada Menu

*Monday to Friday, students can personalize their healthy breakfast, choosing from a variety of items

** A fresh salad bar featuring a variety of nutritious items is served with every lunch and dinner weekdays


Monday

Breakfast: Fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, healthy cereal(s), multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt and cottage cheese

Lunch: Whole wheat sub / wrap – Students may choose from a variety of sliced meats, cheese & veggie toppings to create a personalized sandwich wrap

Dinner: Slow cooked prime rib with roasted garlic, mash potatoes, fresh asparagus


Tuesday

Breakfast:  fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, healthy cereal(s), multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt and cottage cheese

Lunch: Whole wheat penne pasta with tomatoes, feta olives and ground sausage

Dinner: Grilled chicken breast topped with tomato basil salsa, brown rice and butter glazed carrots


Wednesday

Breakfast: Fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, healthy cereal(s), multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt and cottage cheese

Lunch: Roasted red peppers stuffed with bean salad with steak bavette & ancient grain dijon sauce

Dinner: Maple soy marinated pork tenderloin with roasted baby red potatoes steamed broccoli


Thursday

Breakfast: Fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, Oatmeal, Healthy Cereal(s), multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt and cottage cheese

Lunch: Grilled chicken served on couscous with steamed veggies

Dinner: Whole wheat spaghetti & meatballs in bolognese sauce


Friday

Breakfast: Fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, healthy cereal(s), multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt and cottage cheese

Lunch: Chicken or beef fajitas on whole wheat tortillas with all the toppings

Dinner: Grilled salmon with tomato broth, sauteed chicken peas, and whole green beans – ice cream sundae (build your own with all the toppings)


Saturday & Sunday

In addition to our continental breakfast, a hot brunch is served between 10:30 am and noon. Student may enjoy items such as: eggs, waffles, pancakes, French toast, bacon, ham, sausage, home fries and muffins.
