Our Hockey Philosophy

CIH Academy strongly believes that a sport plays an integral part in a young person's education and life. Along with a superior education provided by the Ontario Ministry of Education, CIH Academy delivers a unique experience in hockey training and competition. The on-ice and off-ice programming will help them maximize the potential they have as a hockey player and just as important we make every effort to instil discipline, respect, dedication and teamwork in all of our athletes. These qualities will allow them to become productive members in the communities they will be part of in the future.

Eastern Ontario is recognized for its depth of hockey talent. Our players receive vast exposure to all levels of competitive hockey, from junior levels to the NHL. CIH Academy is affiliated with Hockey Canada. Our campus is used by Hockey Canada as a training centre for their National Teams, including Canada's sledge hockey teams.

Stanley Cup-winning coach Mr Bob Hartley is an invaluable asset to our program as CIH Academy's Senior Hockey Advisor, providing advice and support that draws upon his years of professional coaching experience. CIH Academy's hockey program is delivered by Hockey Canada certified coaches and features the latest hockey training techniques, video analysis, team building elements and much more. A kinesiologist is responsible for the fitness training.  Various methods include plyometrics, core strength, cardio endurance and resistance and many more. Motivational seminars and nutrition management are also an integral part of the programming.

Players train in the state-of-the-art Athletics and Events Centre (CIH arena) up to five days a week. Situated right on campus, this twin-ice sports complex has all of the latest features you would find in college, junior and even professional level arenas. Home games are played on the main rink which has a 2200 seating capacity.

CIH Academy boys compete at the AAA level in the OEMHL and the Varsity Prep team in leagues across Eastern Canada and North Eastern US. Girls play in the Ontario Women's Hockey Association, enjoying some of the best competition in Canada. In addition to league schedules, our hockey teams participate in elite tournaments and showcases allowing the players the opportunity to experience the highest levels of competition as well as exposure to University and Junior hockey recruiters.

Our Program of Hockey Excellence is graduating young people with first rate Ontario education and superb hockey skills, preparing students to excel in school, in hockey, and in life.
